This article references Dr. Gerald Rogan which many of you know from the teleconference we held in February of this year. Dr. Rogan was invited to comment on the actions of an interventional cardiologist from a hospital in Baltimore that performed over 500 unnecessary procedures . This physician was head of his department and was in control of what cases were selected for peer review.
Dr. Rogan makes some valid points on the need for peer review, not only when there are unexpected outcomes but also during "routine" cases with no complications. Please feel free to share with your medical directors.
